Cosy Creative Poetry with Johnnie and UL

Cosy Creative Poetry with Johnnie and UL

In January 2023 we were excited to collaborate with one of our members Johnnie Barton to support him to deliver two poetry workshops through ‘Cosy Creatives’ part of the City of Culture legacy work.

Free copies of the printed collection were handed our at our recent Open Mic and final Drama Workshop of term. Copies were also shared with Methodist Central Hall. Johnnie is planning to give some copies to local libraries too. We’re excited to share these wonderful poems both online here in this blog and also in the printed collection.

Congratulations to all involved!

Johnnie Barton

Has been writing poetry and songs since he was in primary school. Johnnie has performed his own music at multiple concerts and had some success in both industries. Johnnie enjoys sharing his skills with other people and helping them to develop their own skills.

We first met Johnnie at one of our relaxed but vibrant workshops. Our member-led ethos is also important to us and we want people with personal experience of homelessness and/or mental health issues to be genuinely involved in the development and delivery of our activity at every stage and level of our organisation. Which was why we were especially excited to collaborate with Johnnie in achieving his vision of running workshops and creating this poetry collection as part of the Cosy Creatives City of Culture legacy work.
