Lights Up! Autumn Term

Lights Up! Autumn Term

It’s the start of a shiny new term here at Underground Lights, and as the sun continues to beam down on Coventry, we are filled with excitement to continue working on our Lights Up! Project. The project will see our members perform on the B2 stage at the Belgrade Theatre in February 2024!

Last term, members worked hard to create an original play using devising techniques and storytelling to develop scenes based around the theme of ‘Journey’. Across the course of the term, members shared new ideas and the structure of the play emerged, with a host of interesting characters beginning to take shape.

‘I’m excited to see what this term brings as we’ll be building on last term’s work and I can’t wait to see how this develops, especially through the backstage workshop creatives workshops!' Beth Fiducia-Brookes, Artistic Director

This term, we will be using movement, music and design to take our story even further and create a piece of theatre that reflects the incredible work of Underground Lights members.

‘The creativity that members have shown so far during the project has resulted in a really unique and engaging story, that members can now work together to bring to life’ Hannah Beck, Lights Up! Project Producer

AND IT DOESN’T STOP THERE … This term, we are also working with FabLab Coventry to offer free costume and woodwork workshops! Using their community maker space at Fargo Village which is ‘capable of producing almost anything’, you will be able to design and create costumes and set for the final show in Feb 24! This is a great opportunity to develop your skills, meet new people and see your creations on a professional stage.

``We are really excited to be able to partner with Underground Lights for this project and be able to share our knowledge and experience of making and creating with the project participants to come up with some really innovative, creative and engaging props and costumes`` Fab Lab Team
