FabLab Backstage Workshops

FabLab Backstage Workshops

Members have been busy making costumes and building props and set pieces for our Lights Up! production in February 2023. It’s been exciting to see ideas evolve, starting in discussion to sketch to being build and decorated. We’ve had 22 people get involved, some as one-off but many returning regularly, even weekly!

Members have had fun making fascinators, flowers, aprons and a wedding dress in the costume workshops. While woodwork has seen members make signs, a bus wheel and gear stick, and movable screens. These pieces will make the production shine, adding huge value to performance and members experience.

Some material has been upcycled and thanks to A Good Thing for sharing our call-our for material.

These backstage workshops have enabled members to try new things, develop skills, meet new people, have fun, and create wonderful pieces for the stage.

Thank you to FabLab for their support, especially tutors Indie and Kev.

The workshops were great. In Costume I learnt a few things even though I knew quite a bit. The Woodwork gave me a new hobby which I hope to again in the near future - Susan, UL Member

I absolutely loved working with the group, their help and input were invaluable and made the whole process flow seamlessly. Thank you so much you were all amazing and awesome - Kenneth, UL member

Thank you also to our our funders, especially Arts Council England, and the Tudor Trust.
