Creative Café

Creative Café

Our Autumn Term Creative Café workshops were made possible thanks to the Grocer’s Hall Trust – we were able to run 12 weekly workshops, an in-house Member-Only Open Mic and and end of term Public Open Mic. These workshops were attended by people with lived expeirnece of homelessness and/or mental health distress. The group had fun being creative together, exploring poetry, drama, songmaking and prop building.

They especially enjoyed a workshop by Cory from Blue Coat School who visited us to share his knowledge on lighting – we learnt more about lighting gels, gobos and had a go on his ‘theatre in a box’.

One member in particular has taken a lead on lighting for our Open Mics which is exciting to see his growth in confidence. Other have built their performance skills and friendships through rap and the arts.

As always our work was supported by a wonderful staff and volunteer team and we especially wish to thank Thomas, Emma, and Benita.
