Job Purpose
- To assist with the preparation and delivery of projects and activities to Underground Lights members.
- To assist with administration and development of Underground Lights.
Role Responsibilities
- To work with the Drama Facilitator and Artistic Director/CEO to assist with practical preparations for UL activities and projects (including drama workshops, theatre trips etc.).
- To assist with (and take responsibility for elements of) practical activities and projects (e.g., through supported delivery of group exercises/discussions, organising theatre trips etc.)
- To support end of term performances of member work.
- To undertake administrative duties as required in order to further the organisational aims and development of Underground Lights and its activities.
- To actively promote safeguarding, following all policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all members and other staff and volunteers.
- To ensure that any safeguarding concerns are reported in line with Underground Lights’ procedures.
- To attend relevant meetings and training as necessary.
- To understand and promote Underground Lights’ values and aims.
Person Specification
Essential
- Interest in the area of drama/performing arts.
- Experience of participating in drama/performing arts groups.
- Experience of working or volunteering with people who have experienced homelessness or mental health issues.
- An understanding of the barriers preventing adults from learning and participating in groups and ideas about how to overcome these.
- Good communication skills (in writing and in person).
- Good administrative and organisational skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail etc.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, agreeing regular working hours with the Artistic Director/CEO.
- Knowledge of, and ability to comply with, safeguarding procedures.
- Commitment to Underground Lights’ values and aims.
Desirable
- Experience of updating websites, familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
- Teaching qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training) or willingness to work towards.
- Personal experience of homelessness or mental health issues.
